Industrial Development of Myanmar

From 10. – 21. February 2016, STEPPinternational has organised the visit of an Italian Technical Delegation to Myanmar on invitation of the Myanmar Engineering Society MES.  International Symposiums on the subject of “Industrial Development of Myanmar”, conducted jointly with MES, were held in Yangon and Mandalay.  The visit served the systematic  exchange of information ,  as well as the promotion of international co-operation in the field of research, applied geology  and hydraulic engineering.  Members of the Delegation were Representatives of  the Engineering Company Soil SrL and Majone & Partners from Milan, Italy.  Their  presentations were about geotechnical engineering  techniques (Soil Srl)  and  water resource management problems (Majone&Partners).  Dr. Goetz  and  Mr. Pearce of STEPPinternational  instead introduced the subject of road safety,  in an effort to raise awareness about this new and serious problem the country of Myanmar is facing.

Seminar on Construction Project Management

STEPPinternational is very pleased for having successfully initiated and co-organised the technical Seminar on Construction Project Management held under the chairmanship of U Win Khaing, President of MES, on the premises of MES, with contributions from Professor Schmidt and Professor Dauberschmidt, both Munich University of Applied Sciences and Dr. Goetz, STEPPinternational. The topics of discussion were rather diverse, ranging from “challenges of modern construction management” (Schmidt) through “criteria of durable construction under severe exposure conditions” (Dauberschmidt) to “development project cycle management” (Goetz).
